Looking Back on 2020 at Redwood

2020 has been a year for the books for Redwood, even if it wasn’t the year we all anticipated. The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it challenges both professional and personal for people across the world. But even though it was a really difficult year in many ways, we wanted to take a chance to celebrate the positives.

Take a look back at our year at Redwood.

We Built New Redwood Neighborhoods Across Our Portfolio

We were fortunate to be able to continue constructing new neighborhoods, and adding phases to some of our current neighborhoods, throughout the year. In South Carolina, you can now lease an apartment at Redwood Simpsonville Neely Ferry Road and Redwood Mauldin. In Ohio, you’ll find new Redwood Neighborhoods in Mansfield, Cuyahoga Falls, and Fairborn. In Michigan, we built Redwood Holt, Redwood Texas Township, and Redwood Southgate.

We added new phases at some of our existing neighborhoods too!

And we have more on the way! You’ll soon be able to rent at Redwood in Copley, Ohio, Greenwood, Indiana, Lafayette, Indiana and more remarkable locations.

We Installed New Signage at New Neighborhoods and Enjoyed the Landscaping at Current Neighborhoods

Looking for a Redwood Neighborhood? You’ll be able to recognize us by our beautiful signs out front! We love how the landscaping turns out after the signs have been installed.

Redwood was Named a Top Workplace and a Great Place to Work

We’re so proud we were named a Top Workplace by the Cleveland Plain Dealer AND a Great Place to Work for the third consecutive year! The valuable feedback from our teams helps us continue to create a truly meaningful workplace. Read about our awards for Top Workplaces and Great Place to Work on our new Newsroom area of our website!

Seeing this feedback is incredibly rewarding, but we always have room to improve!
We love that our teams have so much fun together (picture taken pre-covid)

Our Employees Stayed Positive While Staying Distanced

One of our Core Values is “Be Nice and Have Fun,” and (even in a really rough year), our Redwood Ambassadors truly lived up to it. They took every change in stride, wore their masks, and learned new technology. They continued to go above and beyond, and they had a really good sense of humor when it came to all of our “new coworkers” whether they were small children, excitable animals, or just a wonky wifi connection. Take a look at how our ambassadors kept their positivity going through the tough year!

They celebrated coworkers’ new family additions COVID-19 style
They showed up to work with smiles on their faces (even if you couldn’t see them) *mask was down for photo opp only!*
They came together to help out other neighborhoods when they needed it

Our Residents Kept Their Spirits Up by Staying Active and Having Adorable Pets

Our residents are resilient and wonderful. So when we asked how they were doing, and what they were doing to stay positive while dealing with 2020, they delivered! You can see what they said in another blog post.

And one of the perks of allowing up to 3 pets per apartment home? Our residents got to spend some more time with their four-legged friends this year. To be honest, these four-legged friends cheered up all who came into contact with them!

Our Employees Experienced Working from Home for the First Time

And they took it in stride! Big shout out to our IT department for making it possible – without their help we wouldn’t have been able to have been able to continue our business.

Some teams REALLY got into the new Teams meetings
and the holiday features made a hot cocoa party possible for our AR & AP team!

We Did our Best to Show Residents We Still Care

Even if we couldn’t be close to our residents physically, we still wanted them to feel the love from Redwood this year.

Virtual bingo was a hit with our residents!

We look forward to the time when we can gather with our residents again.

Our Neighborhoods Shared Their Love for the Communites

The Redwood Waukee team dropped off some goodies for their local police department as a thank you for all they do in the community

Our Employees Delivered More Than Expected

For the first year ever, our yearly Redwood Retreat happened in a virtual capacity. Normally we gather all of our employees together, but this year that just wasn’t possible. So we celebrated wins and shared good news for the year online! Read more about it here.

But that’s not the only time our ambassadors showed they were truly award-winning hard workers!

Redwood Fort Wayne Noyer Road won the customer service award from National Corporate Housing
Brandon won an award from National Corporate Housing as well!

We Also Got to See our Ambassadors Graduate Training Programs and Get Promoted!

Members of our LEAD, Regional Manager in Training and Neighborhood Manager in Training programs continued their hard work virtually and were able to set the foundation for further achievement and responsibility at Redwood.

Aarika even got to receive her graduation certificate from our RMIT program in person!

We Brought on Remarkable New Hires

In a year that can only be described as challenging, we are proud to say we were able to grow our employee base! At our neighborhoods, we hired Neighborhood Managers, Leasing Professionals, Service Technicians, and more. We even got to grow our corporate teams, helping support the our field teams with more manpower and efficiency!

We were happy to welcome Ryan to the team! Here he is with his father, Kevin – also a Redwood Ambassador!

And of Course, We Welcomed New Redwood Neighbors Home

At new and current Redwood Neighborhoods, we were so glad to be able to welcome new residents to their homes. We are so happy to be able to provide remarkable housing for people across the United States, and we look forward to continuing on in pursuit of our mission and vision in the new year.

This couple was so happy to move in, they asked their new Neighborhood Manager to take this picture of them entering their new home for the first time!

While the year wasn’t perfect, we are so thankful to be able to serve our residents, our communities, our employees, and all of our other stakeholders this year and for many years to come. Happy New Year!
